Set up email in Thunderbird
Add your WebGee mailbox to Mozilla Thunderbird, including server-side calendars and address books, which Thunderbird can connect in the same wizard.
Add your WebGee mailbox to Mozilla Thunderbird on Windows, macOS or Linux. Applies to every WebGee Workspace mailbox.
Thunderbird detects the server settings automatically and can connect your calendars and address books in the same step.
Add your mailbox
- Open Thunderbird.
- If this is your first account, Thunderbird offers to set one up — choose Skip this and use my existing email and go to step 4. Otherwise select File → New → Existing Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full email address and mailbox password.
- Tick Remember password, then select Continue.
- When the settings are detected, make sure IMAP is selected, then select Done.
Choose IMAP rather than POP3 unless you have a specific reason not to. POP3 downloads messages to one device and removes them from the server, so they will not appear on your phone.
Connect calendars and contacts
Still in the setup window, before you close it:
- Select the arrow beside Address Books and select Connect on each one you want.
- Select the arrow beside Calendars and select Connect on each one you want.
- Select Finish.
If you have already closed the window, reopen it from Account Settings for the account.
Check it worked
Send yourself a message from webmail and confirm it arrives. If you connected a calendar, create a test event in Thunderbird and check it appears in webmail.
If autodetection fails
Thunderbird falls back to asking for server details. Enter them from Email server settings, choosing SSL/TLS on port 993 for incoming and port 465 for outgoing.
