Set up email on Mac and iPhone
Add your WebGee mailbox to Apple Mail on macOS, iPhone and iPad using a configuration profile, or set it up by hand.
Add your WebGee mailbox to Apple Mail, Contacts and Calendar on a Mac, iPhone or iPad. Applies to every WebGee Workspace mailbox.
The fastest route is a configuration profile, which fills in every server setting for you. Set it up by hand only if you need to change the defaults.
Install the configuration profile
A profile configures your mail, contacts and calendars in one step.
- On the device you want to set up, open the WebGee Mail profile.
- Approve the download, then open Settings → Profile Downloaded on iPhone or iPad, or System Settings → General → VPN & Device Management on a Mac.
- Select Install and enter your device passcode or Mac password.
- Enter your mailbox password when prompted.
You are asked for your mailbox password up to three times — once each for mail, contacts and calendars. It is the same password every time.
Open Mail. Your messages begin downloading.
Mail only, without contacts and calendars
If you keep contacts and calendars elsewhere, use the mail-only profile instead and follow the same steps. You are asked for your password once.
Set it up by hand
Use this if you would rather not install a profile, or you need settings the profile does not cover.
- Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts on iPhone or iPad, or Mail → Settings → Accounts on a Mac.
- Select Add Account, then Other.
- Enter your name, full email address and mailbox password.
- When asked for server details, enter the values from Email server settings.
Push email on iPhone and iPad
Apple Mail checks for new messages on a schedule. For messages to arrive the moment they are sent, add the account as Exchange instead:
- Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account.
- Select Exchange.
- Enter your email address and select Next.
- Enter your mailbox password, then select Next.
- Select Save.
Exchange stores a maximum of three email addresses per contact. If you keep more than that, use the configuration profile instead.
Check it worked
Send yourself a message from webmail. It should appear in Apple Mail within a few seconds on Exchange, or at the next scheduled check otherwise.
If it does not arrive, confirm your password by signing in to webmail directly — an incorrect password is by far the most common cause.
