Set up email in KDE Kontact

Add your WebGee mailbox to KDE Kontact on Linux, including calendars and contacts over CalDAV and CardDAV.

Add your WebGee mailbox to KDE Kontact on Linux, with calendars and contacts. Applies to every WebGee Workspace mailbox.

Mail is configured by a wizard. Calendars and contacts need a second pass, since Kontact treats them as separate accounts.

Add your mailbox

  1. Open Kontact.
  2. If this is your first account, the setup wizard opens by itself — skip to step 4. Otherwise select Mail in the sidebar, then Tools → Account Wizard.
  3. Enter your name, full email address and mailbox password, then select Next.
  4. Select Create Account. Re-enter your password if prompted.
  5. Select Finish.

Add calendars and contacts

  1. Select Calendar in the sidebar.
  2. Select Settings → Configure KOrganizer.
  3. On the Calendars tab, select Add.
  4. Choose DAV groupware resource, then OK.
  5. Enter your email address and mailbox password, then select Next.
  6. Choose ScalableOGo from the list, then select Next.
  7. Enter mail.webgee.com as the Host, then select Next.
  8. Select Test Connection, then Finish, then OK twice.

This configures contacts at the same time — you do not need to repeat it in KAddressBook.

Check it worked

Send yourself a message from webmail and confirm it arrives. Then create a test event in KOrganizer and check it appears in webmail under Calendar.

Once configured, KMail, KOrganizer and KAddressBook all work standalone against the same account.

If the DAV connection fails

  • Test Connection fails — the host must be mail.webgee.com exactly, with no https:// prefix and no trailing path.
  • Authentication fails — the username is your full email address, not just the part before the @.
  • Events sync but contacts do not — the resource was added under KOrganizer but not enabled for contacts. Re-run steps 3–8.
