Moving accounts between your reseller plans
The Migration Center is for bringing accounts in from other providers. Moving between WebGee plans uses Live Transfer — request it through support.
Move a cPanel account from one WebGee reseller plan to another. Applies to reseller accounts.
Do not use the Migration Center for this. It is designed for bringing accounts in from other providers, and using it between WebGee servers causes problems it was never meant to handle.
Why the Migration Center is wrong here
It works by backup and restore: take a backup on the source, restore it on the destination. Fine when the source is another provider.
Between WebGee servers it introduces two problems:
DNS. Both servers are inside WebGee's DNS clustering. A backup-and-restore leaves the zone pointing at the old server while the account exists on the new one, so visitors reach whichever resolves first — and the two disagree for as long as propagation takes.
Clustering drift. Zones that should be synchronised across our nameservers end up inconsistent, which produces intermittent resolution failures long after the migration appears finished. Those are unpleasant to diagnose because the site works most of the time.
Use Live Transfer instead
Open a ticket with your support PIN saying which account, and which plan it should move to.
Live Transfer keeps the account online throughout, updates DNS immediately, and proxies both web and mail traffic between the servers while propagation completes — so nothing is lost and nobody reaches a stale copy. See Moving between WebGee servers.
When the Migration Center is right
For bringing accounts in from another provider, which is what it is for. It needs cPanel at the source with backup functionality enabled — see What support is included for the free migration criteria.
