Moving between WebGee servers
WebGee uses cPanel Live Transfer to move accounts between its own servers with no downtime. Request it through support — do not use the Migration Center.
How WebGee moves an account from one of its servers to another. Applies to shared and reseller hosting.
Do not use the Migration Center to move between WebGee servers. It works by backup and restore, which means downtime, no DNS handling and no mail continuity. Open a ticket instead and we will use Live Transfer.
Request it
Open a ticket with your support PIN saying which account you want moved and where. We schedule it and handle the rest.

What Live Transfer does
No downtime. The site stays online throughout. There is no window where visitors see an error.
DNS updated immediately. Records on WebGee nameservers are repointed to the new server the moment the transfer completes.
Traffic proxied while DNS propagates. Propagation can take up to 48 hours, during which some visitors still resolve to the old server. A proxy forwards both web and mail traffic to the new one, so nobody reaches a stale copy.
Mail keeps flowing. The proxy covers mail as well, so messages are delivered throughout and nothing bounces. You do not need to reconfigure mail clients.
Faster on large accounts. Only the account structure moves through the
transfer tool; files and mail data are copied by rsync, which is
substantially quicker for accounts with a lot of data.
What you need to do
Nothing, in most cases. Worth knowing:
- Custom DNS elsewhere. If your domain uses external nameservers — Cloudflare, for example — the A records there still point at the old server. We will tell you what to change and when.
- Hardcoded IP addresses. Anything referencing the server IP directly rather than the hostname needs updating. This is rare, but it does appear in some application configurations and firewall allow lists.
