Manage your server
The server overview in the Cloud Console — power controls, resource usage, and what each tab is for.
Open a server from the Cloud Console dashboard by selecting Manage. Applies to all VPS and dedicated servers.
The status badge at the top right shows the current state — RUNNING, STOPPED or a task in progress.
Power controls
| Control | What it does | Use it when |

| Boot | Starts a stopped server | The server is off |
| Shutdown | Asks the OS to shut down cleanly | Normal shutdown |
| Restart | Asks the OS to reboot cleanly | Normal reboot |
| Power Off | Cuts power immediately | The server is unresponsive |
Power Off is the equivalent of pulling the plug. The operating system gets no chance to flush anything to disk, so in-flight writes are lost and a database can be left inconsistent. Use Shutdown unless the server is not responding at all.
What the overview shows
- Operating system and kernel currently installed.
- Memory and CPU — live usage against what your plan provides.
- Region and system class, and the date the server was created.
- Loader — BIOS or UEFI.
- Network — inbound, outbound and total traffic against your monthly allowance, with the current IPv4 address.
Traffic is the number worth watching. Exceeding your allowance has consequences that depend on your plan, and the overview shows both the figure and the percentage used.

Task history
Every page lists recent tasks with a duration and a status. When an action seems to have done nothing, check here first — a task showing FAILED tells you far more than a page that simply did not change.
