# Can you run a VPN or Tor relay
Source: https://docs.webgee.com/en/servers/do-you-allow-vpn-tor-i2p

**Yes** — WebGee permits VPNs and network relays on its servers, public or
private. Applies to VPS and dedicated servers.

## Conditions [#conditions]

**Order enough bandwidth.** A VPN or relay carries the traffic of everyone using
it, which is a very different profile from a website. Exceeding your allowance
has consequences that depend on your plan — check the traffic figure on your
server's overview.

**Stay within the Terms of Service and Fair Use Policy.** The usual rules apply,
and they apply to the traffic your service carries as well as to the service
itself.

**Abuse complaints are your responsibility.** Traffic leaving your server is
attributed to your IP address. Complaints come to you, and sustained abuse
affects the service regardless of who generated it.

## Tor exit relays [#tor-exit-relays]

Permitted, but **talk to us first**.

An exit relay is the point where traffic leaves the Tor network onto the public
internet, so its IP address is what any destination sees. In practice that means
a high volume of abuse reports, and a real chance of the IP being blacklisted.

Open a ticket before setting one up and we will advise on the right placement.

Middle relays and bridges do not carry the same exposure — they never connect
to destinations outside the network — and need no special arrangement.

## Worth doing anyway [#worth-doing-anyway]

* **Set reverse DNS** to something identifying the service. Abuse handlers treat
an unlabelled IP less generously — see
  [Networking and reverse DNS](/en/servers/server-networking).
* **Publish a contact address** if you run a public relay, so reports reach you
  rather than only us.
* **Rate-limit outbound SMTP.** Relays and VPNs are routinely used to send spam,
and blocking port 25 outbound removes the most common abuse vector entirely.
