# Getting started with WHM
Source: https://docs.webgee.com/en/reseller/reseller-hosting-getting-started-with-whm-a-comprehensive-guide

WHM (WebHost Manager) is where you manage the cPanel accounts under your reseller
plan. Applies to reseller accounts.

## Sign in [#sign-in]

WHM is on port **2087**:

| Situation               | Address                             |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------- |
| Your domain points here | `https://example.com:2087`          |
| It does not yet         | `https://your-server-hostname:2087` |

Credentials are in your welcome email — the same ones as your own cPanel.

You can also open WHM from cPanel using the **WHM** icon.

## Create your first account [#create-your-first-account]

1. Search for **Create a New Account**.
2. Enter the domain, username, password and contact email.
3. Choose a **package**, which sets the resource limits.
4. Select **Create**.

Create packages first under **Packages → Add a Package**. Keep their limits
within your plan's total, or the package is never created — see
[WHM packages not showing in WHMCS](/en/reseller/reseller-entry-whmcs-my-whm-packages-are-not-showing).

## Open a client's cPanel without their password [#open-a-clients-cpanel-without-their-password]

**List Accounts**, then the orange **cP** icon beside their domain.

<Callout type="info">
  This is worth knowing on day one. You never need to ask a client for their
  password, and never need to reset it to look at something — which means you can
  help without interrupting them.

| **List Accounts** | Everything: search, log in, suspend, terminate |
| **Modify an Account** | Change package, domain, username, privileges |

| **Suspend/Unsuspend an Account** | Non-payment                                                                               |

| **Edit DNS Zone**                | DNS for a client's domain                                                                 |

## Set these up early [#set-these-up-early]

**Custom nameservers**, so clients point at your brand rather than WebGee's —
[Create custom nameservers](/en/domains-dns/how-do-i-create-custom-nameservers).

**A skeleton directory**, so new accounts show your holding page instead of a
403 —
[Set default files for new accounts](/en/hosting/how-do-i-use-a-skeleton-directory-to-set-the-default-contents-of-newly-added-dom).

**WHMCS**, if you intend to automate billing and provisioning —
[Install WHMCS](/en/reseller/softaculous-how-do-i-install-whmcs).

<Callout type="warn">
  **Terminate an Account** deletes everything — files, databases, email — and
  cannot be undone. Suspend instead while anything is in doubt; suspension is
  reversible and takes the site offline just the same.
</Callout>
