# Create an email account
Source: https://docs.webgee.com/en/email/how-to-create-email-accounts-in-cpanel

Create a mailbox on your domain. Applies to shared, reseller and Premium hosting.

## Create it [#create-it]

1. In cPanel, open **Email Accounts** under **Email**.
2. Select **Create**.
3. Choose the domain and enter the part before the `@`.
4. Set a password — use **Generate**.
5. Set the **storage space**.
6. Select **Create**.

## Choose a quota deliberately [#choose-a-quota-deliberately]

<Callout type="warn">
  Avoid **Unlimited**. Mailboxes count against your account's total disk space,
  and an unlimited mailbox that nobody empties will eventually consume it — at
  which point the **website** stops working too, not just mail.

  A few gigabytes per mailbox is usually right, and it makes overuse visible
  before it becomes a problem.
</Callout>

See [Email storage limits](/en/email/how-much-email-storage-space-is-permitted-on-the-shared-or-reseller-plans).

## Connect a mail client [#connect-a-mail-client]

The new mailbox works immediately at
[webmail.webgee.com](https://webmail.webgee.com).

For a desktop or mobile client, see
[Email server settings](/en/email/manual-configuration), or the guides for
[Apple Mail](/en/email/apple-macos-ios),
[Android](/en/email/android),
[Outlook](/en/email/microsoft-outlook) and
[Thunderbird](/en/email/mozilla-thunderbird).

The username is always the **full email address**.

## Before sending anything [#before-sending-anything]

New domains send poorly until authentication is configured. Set it up before the
first campaign or invoice run, not after:

* [Set your SPF record](/en/email/what-are-the-correct-spf-records-when-using-webgee-hosting)
* Enable DKIM under **cPanel → Email Deliverability**
* [Publish a DMARC record](/en/email/publishing-dmarc-records-on-your-cpanel-domain)

## Forwarders and aliases [#forwarders-and-aliases]

For an address that only redirects — `info@` going to a real mailbox — create a
**forwarder** instead. It uses no storage and no quota.

**Email → Forwarders → Add Forwarder.**

## Delete one carefully [#delete-one-carefully]

<Callout type="error">
  Deleting a mailbox **deletes its messages**. Export anything needed first —
  connect it in a desktop client and let it download completely.
</Callout>
