# Cancel a service
Source: https://docs.webgee.com/en/account-billing/how-do-i-cancel-my-service-s

Cancel a hosting service, addon or domain from the WebGee client area. Applies
to every WebGee account.

## Request the cancellation [#request-the-cancellation]

1. Sign in to the [WebGee client area](https://my.webgee.com).
2. Go to **Services → Request Cancellation**.
3. Choose the service or addon you want to cancel.
4. Submit the request.

A support ticket opens automatically to confirm it.

<Callout type="warn">
  **You must reply to that ticket.** A cancellation request on its own does not
  stop billing — we require a written confirmation from you before removing a
  service, because an unconfirmed request is indistinguishable from a
  compromised account. Until you reply, invoices continue to be generated.
</Callout>

## Check it worked [#check-it-worked]

The service shows as **Cancelled** under **Services** in the client area once we
have processed your reply. If it still shows **Active** a day after you replied,
follow up on the same ticket.

## Before you cancel [#before-you-cancel]

Take a copy of anything you need first — data is removed after cancellation and
we cannot always recover it.

* Download a full backup: see
  [Generate and download a backup](/en/backups/how-to-generate-download-a-website-backup).
* Export any mailboxes you want to keep.
* If you are moving a domain elsewhere, start the transfer **before**
  cancelling — see
  [Enable a registrar lock](/en/domains-dns) for where domain settings live.
